Who we are

Roofing Palmerston North is a website operated by Wairoof Ltd (NZBN 9429048241670), a New Zealand roofing company. Wairoof carries out all roofing work booked through this website. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Wairoof Ltd.

We are responsible for the personal information collected through this website, and we handle it in line with the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect and how

When you ask for a quote or contact us, we collect what you give us:

• your name, phone number and email address
• the property address and suburb
• the service you need, the size of the job and any details or photos you share
• notes from phone calls, texts, emails and site visits

When you become a customer, we also keep quotes, invoices, payment records and job records such as photos of the work.

When someone else gives us your details. Sometimes a tenant, family member, property manager or builder contacts us about your property. If they give us your details, we will let you know as soon as reasonably practicable that we have them and why.

When you use this website, some information is collected automatically through cookies and similar tools. This includes the pages you visit, how you arrived, your device and browser type, and your approximate location. We use:

• Google Analytics to understand how people use the site
• Google Ads to measure and improve our advertising
• Google Maps to show our service area
• Elfsight to display our Google reviews

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, but some features, such as the map and reviews, may not display. You can also opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

You don’t have to give us any information. But without a name and a way to contact you, we can’t prepare a quote or carry out work.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

• respond to your enquiry and prepare your quote
• book, carry out and follow up on your job, including warranty work
• invoice you and keep accounting records
• send job updates and appointment reminders
• improve our website, services and advertising
• meet our legal obligations, such as tax and building record-keeping

We only use your information for these purposes, or for purposes directly related to them, unless you agree otherwise or the law allows it.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We only share it where needed to do the job:

• Wairoof staff and subcontractors working on your quote or job
• Suppliers, who may need your address to deliver materials
• Service providers that run our systems, including LeadConnector (the form and customer database behind this website), Google, and our email, phone and accounting software providers
• Our professional advisers, such as our accountant, where needed
• Authorities, such as your local council or a government agency, where the law requires it

Our service providers handle your information on our behalf, and are not allowed to use it for their own purposes.

Storage outside New Zealand

Some of our service providers, including LeadConnector and Google, store information on servers outside New Zealand, mainly in the United States. We choose providers that keep information secure, and we stay responsible for how your information is handled.

Marketing messages

We only send marketing emails or texts, such as seasonal roof check reminders, if you have agreed to receive them. Every message includes an easy way to unsubscribe. Messages about your quote or job are not marketing, and we’ll send those as needed.

Keeping your information safe

We store your information with secure, password-protected providers and limit access to the people who need it. We keep job and financial records for 7 years, as New Zealand tax law requires. Enquiries that don’t go ahead are deleted after 24 months. When we no longer need information, we delete or destroy it securely.

If a privacy breach happens that could cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as soon as practicable.

Seeing and correcting your information

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it. Contact our privacy officer using the details above. We’ll respond within 20 working days, and there is no charge.

Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please contact our privacy officer first so we can put it right. If you’re still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or on 0800 803 909.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
